BRAVES DROP SERIES FINALE TO PHILLIES, TAKE TWO OF THREE IN WEEKEND SERIES AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 on Sunday evening in the finale of a three game NL East set at Truist Park, which denied the Braves a sweep of the series.

Atlanta had a chance to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the ninth inning on a two-out double by Freddie Freeman; however, Dansby Swanson was tagged out at home plate. The play at the plate was challenged by the Braves, but the call was upheld upon further review.

Alec Bohm, Rhys Hoskins and Didi Gregorius each contributed home runs in the Phillies’ win over the Braves.

Freeman drove in three of Atlanta’s four runs; he also had a two-run double in the bottom of the third.

The Braves are off tonight and will return to action on Tuesday night with the first of two interleague matches against the New York Yankees at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.

Atlanta currently holds a 16-12 record, as well as the top spot in the National League East standings.
