BRAVES SWEEP TWIN BILL WITH YANKEES AT TRUIST PARK

It was all about the long ball and the pitching as the Atlanta Braves took both outings in a double header with the New York Yankees, 5-1 and 2-1, at Truist Park on Wednesday.

Ian Anderson was stellar in his major league debut. He picked up the win for Atlanta in the opener after surrendering just one run on one hit, walking two, and striking out six over six innings.

Ronald Acuna Jr. made a grand return from the injured list by clubbing a solo home run off Gerrit Cole in his first at-bat.

Dansby Swanson added a two-run shot and Marcel Ozuna contributed a solo home run in the third.

Max Fried was the winning pitcher for the Braves in game two. He gave up just one run and four hits, walked one and struck out five in six innings.

Atlanta took a late lead on a two-run homer off the bat of Freddie Freeman in the bottom of the sixth.

The Braves are off tonight and will return to action over the weekend with a three-game series in Philadelphia against the Phillies. First pitch of Friday’s opener is set for 7:05 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:50 pm.
