CHAMBER’S BUSINESS EXPO, ROME CHRISTMAS PARADE STILL ON FOR 2020

A pair of popular late-year events in Rome will be held in 2020, with special precautions to prevent community spread of coronavirus.

The Rome-Floyd Chamber is moving forward with plans for the ’20 Business Expo, slated for November 5th at the Forum River Center. Entrepreneurs and consumers may attend the event in person or virtually. As of now, the plan is to offer both options, according Thomas Kislat, Director of Membership and Entrepreneurial Development for the Chamber.

Local businesses interested in participating in the Expo should contact Kislat by email at [email protected] or by phone at (706) 291-7663. Information on the event is posted on the Chamber’s website at www.romega.com.

The Rome Christmas Parade will additionally return in 2020. It will be held in downtown Rome on December 1st.

The parade route could be modified to reflect CDC guidelines during the time of the event, according to co-chair Janet Byington.

This year’s theme will be “Heroes of 2020” with a nod to the people that have kept this community safe and healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Applications are now online at www.romechristmasparade.com. The deadline to apply is November 10th. Entry fee is $100. Late fees will be incurred. The parade committee recommends that no more than 10 people be on a float while walkers should practice social distancing and wear a mask.
