BRAVES NOTCH 10-RUN SECOND INNING EN ROUTE TO VICTORY OVER PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 12-10 on Sunday night in the finale of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, which allowed the Braves to avoid being swept in this weekend series among rivals in the National League East.

Atlanta took a commanding lead with 10 runs in the top of the second inning. Austin Riley led the charge with an RBI double and a two-run homer.

But Philadelphia came charging back, thanks in part to a six-run third inning and back-to-back homers from Roman Quinn and Andrew McCutchen in the bottom of the eighth.

Dansby Swanson added insurance for the Braves with a solo home run in the top of the ninth.

Atlanta starter Tommy Milone gave up seven runs over just two and one third innings after being acquired from Baltimore earlier in the day. AJ Minter was credited with the win for the Braves, and Mark Melancon picked up his 200th career save. Jake Arrieta took the loss for the Phillies.

The NL East-leading Braves will be up in Boston this evening for the first of three interleague matches against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. First pitch of

tonight’s opener is slated for 7:30 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:15 pm.
