Rome-based non-profit Brighter Birthdays continues its mission to help local underprivileged children celebrate birthdays in this time of coronavirus. Their mission is accomplished through delivery of backpacks filled with goodies to the students’ respective schools.
Cristin Warden, founder of Brighter Birthdays, indicates that deliveries have resumed at schools within the Rome City and Floyd County school systems. The organization aims to serve around 2,000 kids during the 2020-21 school year. Volunteers are now sought to assist with the filling of backpacks, states Warden, who also attests that this assembly can be a socially distant outlet for community service.
Those unable to contribute time towards the effort are encouraged by Warden to donate money or party supplies to Brighter Birthdays, whose fund-raising has taken a hit by the current health crisis.
