ATLANTA BRAVES DROP LABOR DAY GAME TO MIAMI MARLINS IN EXTRA INNINGS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 5-4 over 10 innings in a Labor Day outing at Truist Park on Monday afternoon.

Adam Duvall tied the game at 4-4 with a pinch-hit home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth.

Miami broke that tie on an RBI double by Miguel Rojas off AJ Minter in the top of the tenth and eventually clinched the victory, again, by a final score of 5-4. That was one of two runs driven in by Rojas, who tallied four hits.

Freddie Freeman had a two-run double that got the Braves on the board in the bottom of the first.

Minter took the loss for Atlanta, whose starting pitcher Ian Anderson gave up two runs (only one of them earned) and two hits, walked four, and struck out four in only three innings of work.

Atlanta’s lead in the National League East now stands at two games over the Philadelphia Phillies and three and a half games over Miami. The Braves will face the Marlins in game two of their three-game series tonight at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.
