BRAVES HANDED SHUT OUT LOSS BY MARLINS AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves were shut out by the Miami Marlins 8-0 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game NL East set at Truist Park. That allowed the Marlins to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Atlanta’s starting pitcher Kyle Wright fell to 0-4 on the season after giving up five earned runs and seven hits, walking two, and striking out four in just four innings of work.

Garrett Cooper led the Marlins offensively with three RBIs, including a two-run homer in the top of the fourth.

Matt Joyce and Jorge Alfaro also hit home runs. Sixto Sanchez was credited as the winning pitcher for Miami after giving up three hits over six scoreless innings, walking one, and striking out six.

The Braves hope to avoid being swept by the Marlins as the teams face off in their finale tonight at 7:10 pm. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.

Atlanta’s lead in the National League East now stands at one game and a half over the Philadelphia Phillies and two and a half games over Miami.

In roster moves from the Braves, Max Fried has been placed on the 10-day IL with a left side muscle spasm in his lumbar spine. And much to the dismay of local baseball fans, (Rome native) Charlie Culberson has been designated for assignment. Jacob Webb was reinstated from the 45-day IL.

In happy Braves news, Marcell Ozuna has been named the National League’s Player of the Week.
