FLOYD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, ROME GA CARES AND THE SHERIFF’S POSSE BOUND FOR LOUISIANA ON SEPTEMBER 21ST TO ASSIST HURRICANE VICTIMS

Members of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Rome GA Cares and Sheriff’s Posse will hit the road Monday, September 21st for Beauregard Parrish down in Louisiana to assist victims of Hurricane Laura.

Sheriff Tim Burkhalter says that the crew will be headquartered at the jail in Beauregard Parrish. During the day, they will assist with the clean up efforts in the area and dispense supplies to those in need.

Donations are currently being accepted at the North Rome Church of God, Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Cleaning supplies, tarps, bottled water, and infant care products are among the needed items, asserts FCSO Chaplain David Thornton.

Monetary donations may be mailed to Rome GA Cares, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 110, Rome, GA 30161. Contributions of small toys and stuffed animals are also sought to provide comfort to children impacted by the hurricane.

Deputies and representatives of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand at the Darlington, Coosa, Pepperell, and Rockmart High School football games this Friday to accept donations towards hurricane relief efforts.

Rome, GA is known throughout the Southeast as a giving community, attests Sheriff Burkhalter, who adds that many of those beneficiaries would be eager to return this favor.
