FLOYD COUNTY, ROME CITY COMMISSION UPDATES

Sales tax has provided a boost to Floyd County’s revenues amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Allison Watters, County Commissioner. However, she states that efforts must be made to recoup fees which have been lost (like those of parks and recreation, as well as the local courts).

Watters indicates that public engagement with county affairs has increased in these days of coronavirus; this is largely due to social media.

Floyd County Commissioners’ next meeting is slated for Tuesday, September 22nd. It is open to the public.

The Rome City Commission will meet this evening. Their 6:30 pm meeting will be preceded by a caucus at 5 pm at City Hall (or the City Auditorium) on Broad Street. Their agenda for the evening and a live video of the gathering may be accessed at www.romefloyd.com.
