BRAVES DROP INTERLEAGUE SERIES OPENER TO ORIOLES

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Baltimore Orioles 14-1 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game interleague series at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

It was a tough night for Atlanta starting pitcher Touki Toussaint, who took the loss after giving up eight runs (only five earned) and seven hits, walked three, and struck out two over just two and two-third innings.

Baltimore scored nine runs in the third inning to include three run homers by DJ Stewart and Jose Iglesias, as well as a solo shot by Ryan Mountcastle.

The Braves’ lone run of the night was courtesy of a solo home run by Freddie Freeman in the top of the sixth. It was the only run that was surrendered over seven innings by Orioles starter Jorge Lopez, who picked up the win.

The Braves will face the Orioles again tonight at 7:35 pm. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:20 pm.
