FCS CHILD NUTRITION MEALS ARE FREE TO ALL STUDENTS

Floyd County Schools’ Child Nutrition program will not charge any fees to any students for lunches through December 31, 2020 (end date is dependent on available funding), based on extended meal service flexibilities from the USDA, according to an FCS media release.

While there are no forms to complete or income eligibility requirements for this federally funded temporary relief program, the school system encourages all families to complete the free and reduced lunch form so it is complete and processed when funding ends. The online application should be completed by Friday, September 25th at www.schoolcafe.com/floydcounty.

USDA funding is retroactive to Tuesday, September 1, 2020, and every meal charged since then will be credited by the end of the month back to students’ accounts to use for future meals.

Meals at no charge are not only available to in-person students, but also to all FCS Virtual Academy and quarantined students.

Donna Carver, FCS Child Nutrition Director, asserts, “We’re grateful for this federal support to provide relief to families who need a helping hand during this challenging time to ensure their children are fed.”

Breakfast is already served to all students in the Floyd County Schools, free of charge.
