FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS’ CLASS OF ’20 OUTSCORES NATIONAL, STATE SAT AVERAGES

Floyd County Schools’ Class of ’20 outscored the state and national averages on the SAT, based on results released by the College Board, this according to an FCS media release.

The students earned an average total score of 1,069 on this curriculum-based college entrance and placement exam, which exceeds the national average by 39 points and the state by 26 points.

Dr. Glenn White, FCS interim superintendent, indicates, “This speaks highly to the quality education we’re providing here in FCS.”

Model High School students recorded the highest SAT average among Floyd County Schools with 1085.

Twenty five percent of the Class of 2020 took the SAT exam. Most seniors at FCS opt for the ACT; those scores are expected to be released next month.

In another update involving a local school, Darlington senior Angel Laramie, a resident student from Cumming, is among 16,000 students nationwide to be named semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
