COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY ADJUSTING THEIR MEANS OF SERVICE IN THIS ERA OF COVID-19

Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County has been adjusting their means of providing services to local schools in this era of coronavirus, attests Gregory Wooten, Executive Director. This has resulted in the creation of the new CIS Mini Grants. The one-time grants are given to school counselors to support special initiatives at their respective schools, says Wooten.

Grants have been used for initiatives such as a girls empowerment program and a clothes closet. Wooten indicates that the ultimate goal is to provide for local students’ non-academic needs.

Wooten encourages the public at large to also find out ways to support local schools; just reach out to counselors to find out what they need.

Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County started off the 2020-21 school year by gifting school counselors with necessities like school supplies, masks and hand sanitizers.

Donations to CIS are very much welcome at this time and can be made online at www.cisrome-floyd.org, says Wooten.
