IT’S ELECTION DAY!

Today is Election Day! Polls are open across Floyd County from 7 am until 7 pm. Voters will determine who will serve as President of the United States for the next four years. There are also numerous federal, state, and local posts on the ballots of Georgia voters, along with constitutional amendments and a proposed statewide referendum.

Sample ballots may be viewed ahead of time via the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov. Voters may also locate their polling sites on that page, as well as at www.romefloyd.com under Elections.

And here is a word of advice from Dr. Thomas Rees, Chairman of the Floyd County Board of Elections and Registration – refrain from comedy if you opt to write-in a candidate. While some write-in candidates are funny, this makes poll workers’ jobs just a little tougher.

The Georgia Department of Public Health has offered guidelines of the CDC for voters with COVID-19 or that have been exposed to the virus – wear your mask, stay at least six feet away from others, and wash your hands before and after voting. Sick voters should additionally inform the poll workers on their condition upon arrival at the polling location.

Those with questions about today’s election should contact the Floyd County Elections Office at (706) 291-5167.
