The Rome Christmas Parade Committee met on Tuesday night and voted to move the 2020 parade to State Mutual Stadium’s parking areas, according to a release from the committee. The theme for this year will expand to become “Miracle on Braves Boulevard Saluting the Heroes of 2020”.
The red and gold parking lots at the home of the Rome Braves will transform into a “Winter Wonderland” with floats, lights, music and holiday inflatables. Community members will drive through the static parade.
Parade co-chair Jerry Rucker says, “Santa Claus IS coming to town, but due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in our community, we felt it was important to ensure everyone’s health and safety during the holiday season.”
The parade route will be open from 6 pm to 9 pm on the evening of Tuesday, December 1st. A rain date is set for December 3rd.
