AMERICAN RED CROSS VOLUNTEERS HAVE REMAINED ACTIVE AMID AN ACTIVE HURRICANE SEASON

Volunteers with the American Red Cross have remained active amid an active Atlantic hurricane season in 2020.

Leigh Barba, Executive Director of the Northwest Georgia chapter, states that Red Cross volunteers have been out in force to provide meals, sheltering, and other necessities to hurricane victims. She was deployed to the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Delta. Most recently, the Red Cross responded to those impacted by Hurricane Zeta.

Red Cross volunteers are very careful in their delivery of services in this era of COVID-19, attests Barba, who hopes that hurricane season will not extend beyond the typical end date of November 30th.

Concerned residents of Northwest Georgia may assist hurricane relief efforts of the American Red Cross by donating online at www.redcross.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Blood donations are also encouraged at this time; those who donate blood will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies.
