ROME CITY COMMISSIONERS MEET MONDAY; FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSION GATHER ON TUESDAY

The Rome City Commission will gather in regular session this evening. Their meeting at 6:30 pm will be preceded by a caucus at 5 pm at City Hall (or City Auditorium) on Broad Street. Both are open to the public. Find links to view Commissioners’ agenda and watch a livestream of the meeting via the City of Rome, GA – Government page on Facebook.

Floyd County Commissioners will meet this Tuesday over at the Forum River Center in downtown Rome. The 4 pm caucus will be held in the Floyd Room, with the meeting to follow at 6 pm in the ballroom. Those in attendance have been asked wear masks and practice social distancing.

The Commission will hold an FY21 Budget Workshop earlier that day in the Floyd Room; that will begin at 1 pm.

Scotty Hancock states that this, his last year as the Chair of the Floyd County Board of Commissioners, has been ‘rough’. County (as well as city) officials have been ‘putting out fires’ all throughout 2020, while many long-term (and even short-term) plans have been put on the backburner.

Hancock indicates that the county’s revenues have faired well in recent days, thanks in large part to tax collections on online sales as well as funding from the CARES Act.

Residents of Floyd County are encouraged by Hancock to get involved with their local government.
