SATURDAY COVID-19 TESTING HALTED FOR NOW IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA

Just over 376,000 people in Georgia have (or have had) coronavirus, per the state Department of Public Health, which reported 2,012 new cases as well as 43 virus-related deaths on Tuesday.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 376,054 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state. A total of 8,264 fatalities have been attributed to the virus. In Floyd County, there were 4,395 confirmed cases; the number of deaths is now back at 65. Fulton County had the highest number of confirmed cases in the state with 32,925, as well as the most fatalities with 642.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District has announced that Saturday testing for COVID-19 is being discontinued for now due to a lack of demand. However, free testing remains available on weekdays at sites around the district. Floyd County’s testing site at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome is closed today for Veterans Day; testing will be available at the Bartow and Gordon County regional site in Calhoun.
