NOON OPTIMIST CLUB OF ROME TO HOLD DRIVE-THRU PANCAKE BREAKFAST THIS SATURDAY

The Noon Optimist Club of Rome will hold its 60th annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, November 21st from 6 am to 11 am at the Rome Civic Center on Jackson Hill. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Sausage will also be available for purchase in one pound packets for $5 each.

Due to concerns over COVID-19, this year’s Pancake Breakfast will be drive-thru only. Although the event will be conducted differently, there will still be plenty of pancakes and sausage available to attendees, asserts Mark Swanson, club member.

Volunteers will be on hand to direct traffic, according to Robert Early, also a club member, who urges the public to wear masks during interaction with the volunteers.

Swanson attests that he and other Optimists will miss the camaraderie which normally characterizes the dine-in breakfast. However, a drive thru offers an opportunity to proceed safely with this event, the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year from which proceeds benefit youth-related projects.

The club’s fundraising goal for this year’s Pancake Breakfast is $50,000. To purchase a ticket in advance, reach out to any club member or call (706) 413-1402. Tickets are also available during normal business hours at the Georgia’s Rome Gift Shop on Jackson Hill and may be purchased with cash or check.
