MANY FOLKS SWITCHING FROM ARTIFICIAL TO LIVE CHRISTMAS TREES IN 2020; HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

This has been a year full of changes. In keeping with that, many people are making the switch from artificial to live Christmas trees in 2020. The Rome-Floyd County Fire Department urges locals to be very cautious with live trees (and all Christmas décor).

Linda Patty, Life and Fire Safety Educator, says that immediately upon being brought in the house, trees should be placed in water. Ensure that your tree is fresh; fresh trees should not easily shed their needles.

Here is another word to the wise from Patty with regard to Christmas decor – be sure to hang outdoor and indoor lights in their appropriate locations. And look for the UL (Underwriter Laboratories) label!

Patty directs Romans to the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department’s Facebook page for more fire safety tips, along with information on the First Responders Christmas for 2020.
