HANDFUL OF HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES TO ENJOY (FROM A SAFE SOCIAL DISTANCE) AROUND ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY THIS WEEKEND

There’s a handful of activities planned for the coming weekend around Rome and Floyd County to help locals get into that holiday spirit (from a safe social distance, of course). The options will include arts and crafts festivals, as well as parades.

The 17th annual Small Town Christmas in the Country, a holiday celebration of all things homemade and hand crafted, is scheduled for this Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm and this Sunday from noon until 4 pm over at Rolator Park in Cave Spring. All vendors will be set up around the park and inside the Hearn Academy. Vendors and shoppers are urged to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Susan Childers, event organizer, enthuses that there’s a long list of items that will be available to shoppers at Small Town, to include Christmas décor, arts and crafts, and handmade homegoods.

Admission to Small Town Christmas in the Country is free. Door prizes will be given away, and discounted items will be available from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday. Get more information by looking for the event on Facebook.

Cave Spring’s Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place over the weekend, as well; it will be held at 6 pm on Saturday night.

The Georgia’s Rome Winter Art Market will also take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 4 pm both days at the Rome Civic Center. This will be an outdoor event, for which attendees are encouraged to wear masks.

Kristi Kent, the Director of Communications at the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism, indicates that the Winter Art Market will be a celebration of Georgia artists, crafters, and growers, who have had limited opportunities to sell their wares this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The list of holiday activities for this coming weekend also includes Christmas in Lindale 2020 to be hosted by Restoration Lindale, Inc. The festivities will be highlighted by the Lindale Christmas Parade and the annual Star Lighting Ceremony. For details, search for the event on Facebook.
