COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY IS IN SEARCH OF NEW MENTORS AND VOLUNTEERS

Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County is looking for some new mentors and volunteers. Gregory Wooten, CIS Director, asserts that although visitors are not allowed at local schools for now due to coronavirus concerns, potential mentors and volunteers should reach out to his organization now in preparation for the day that the schools do re-open to the public.

January is observed every year as National Mentoring Month. Wooten urges concerned citizens to place mentoring (or volunteering) atop their list of new year’s resolutions for 2021.

Wooten states that having a mentor increases a student’s chances of finishing school and being successful in life.

Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County is in the midst of raising funds via the sale of raffle tickets at a cost of $20 each. The grand prize will be $1,000. The second prize will be $750, and the third prize will be $250. A winner will be drawn on January 8th during a live broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM. Tickets are available through any CIS board member and online at www.cisrome-floyd.org.
