NEARLY 444,000 IN GEORGIA HAVE (OR HAVE HAD) COVID-19

Close to 444,000 people in Georgia have (or have had) coronavirus, per the state’s Department of Public Health, which reported 1,808 new cases as well as just two virus-related deaths on Sunday.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 443,822 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state. A total of 8,971 fatalities have been attributed to the virus. In Floyd County, there were 5,350 confirmed cases and 83 deaths. Fulton County had the state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 39,566 and the most fatalities with 683.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District has announced that COVID-19 testing will be offered this week in Floyd County at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Rome today, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Hours are 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. The test site is drive-up; there is no appointment needed.
