BRING ONE FOR THE CHIPPER WILL OFFER THE CONTACT-FREE DISPOSAL OF CHRISTMAS TREES ON JANUARY 9, 2021

Right now, you are probably enjoying your Christmas tree and not thinking much about what you are going to do with it when the holiday season is over. However, Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful encourages those with real Christmas trees to mark their calendars for Saturday, January 9th. That is the date of the annual Bring One for the Chipper, which will take place in the parking lot of the Home Depot, 103 Hicks Drive in Rome, from 10 am until 2 pm.

Emma Wells, KRFB Director, indicates that Bring One for the Chipper was a contact-less event before having contact-less events was cool. Just take your tree up to the Home Depot and allow volunteers to take it from you; you don’t even have to get out of your vehicle. And you will be given a free seedling in exchange for your tree, thanks to the Georgia Forestry Commission. Wreaths and garlands will also be accepted.

Those who do not want to wait until January 9th to dispose of their Christmas trees may recycle them curbside in the City of Rome or take them to a remote site in Floyd County, adds Wells.

Wells adds that even if you recycle your Christmas tree prior to January 9th, you can still head over to the Bring One for the Chipper event and receive a free seedling.

Bring One for the Chipper is a Christmas tree-recycling program conducted by Keep Georgia Beautiful with support from numerous community partners. It has been going strong for three decades.
