OVER 3,000 NEW CASES OF CORONAVIRUS REPORTED MONDAY IN GEORGIA; STATE’S FIRST DOSES OF THE VACCINE ARRIVE AT COASTAL GEORGIA

A total of 3,302 new cases of coronavirus were reported across Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health, which additionally noted 13 more virus-related fatalities.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 479,340 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 9,218. In Floyd County, there were 5,777 confirmed cases and 92 fatalities. Fulton County had the state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 42,706 and the most deaths with 707.

The DPH received the first shipments of the coronavirus vaccine on Monday for administration in Georgia. According to a DPH media release, shipments of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Coastal Georgia at two public health locations with ultracold freezers that are necessary for storage and temperature control of the vaccine. Additional vaccine shipments are expected later on this week at facilities in other parts of the state.
