FLOYD COUNTY’S SHERIFF-ELECT DAVE ROBERSON IS LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING OFFICE ON JANUARY 1ST

Floyd County Sheriff-elect Dave Roberson looks forward to officially taking office on January 1st. He says that his primary goals upon assuming that role of Sheriff include attending to the needs of the Sheriff’s Office and Rome and Floyd County as a whole, along with the completion of a medical wing at the jail and finding qualified successors for upper-level management on the verge of retirement.

Objectives also include reducing the recidivism rate, retention of employees, and exploring options to boost revenue (and saving taxpayers’ money).

And, of course, Roberson aims to keep the jail, the court, and officers safe in this era of COVID-19.

Roberson has been in quarantine over the last few days after being exposed to COVID-19 at a training academy. He has exhibited no symptoms of the virus and says he looks forward to returning to work soon.

Floyd County’s current Sheriff Tim Burkhalter is slated to retire from the post (after 16 years) at the end of this year.
