HOSFORD WINS FCS DISTRICT SPELLING BEE FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

Will Hosford, a sixth-grader at Model Middle School, won the Floyd County Schools’ District Spelling Bee for a second straight year on Tuesday morning at Coosa High School’s Performing Arts Center. According to an FCS media release, Will correctly spelled “inexorably” and then “Ganges” to win the ’20 bee, sponsored by the Floyd County chapter of GAE (Georgia Association of Educators and Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County. He now proceeds to the Region 1 Spelling Bee, set for Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Georgia Highlands College’s Lakeview Building. Caedmon Burnett, a sixth-grader at Pepperell Middle School, won second place in the district’s spelling bee and will be the alternate in the region competition.
