FLOYD COUNTY ELECTIONS BOARD POISED TO TACKLE SOME TALL TASKS IN 2021

The Floyd County Board of Elections and Registration has some large tasks to tackle in 2021. Dr. Melanie Conrad, who will become the Chairwoman of that board for the New Year, asserts that their goals will include hiring a new elections clerk and potentially moving the elections office into a larger space. She adds that she is daunted, yet excited about these challenges.

Dr. Conrad additionally states that every effort will be made to ensure a fair and accurate count of the votes in the January 5th runoff. Hopefully this time around, no recounts will be necessary.

Two more days remain of advance in-person voting in the runoff. Voters may cast their early ballots today and Thursday from 8 am until 5 pm both days at the Floyd County Administration Building on East Fourth Avenue or Garden Lakes Baptist Church at 2200 Redmond Circle. Polls will be open from 7 am until 7 pm on Election Day.

Eyes across the US are on this election as it will determine who will hold the majority in the US Senate. Candidates include Republican incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue and Democratic challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. A post on the Public Service Commission is also up for a vote.
