KEEP AN EYE ON WEATHER AS WE EXIT 2020 AND ENTER 2021

Tim Herrington, the Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, encourages all Rome and Floyd County residents to keep an eye on the weather as we exit 2020 and enter 2021. Thunderstorms are expected to move into the area tonight with the biggest threat ahead for New Year’s Day. Warmer temperatures are anticipated to result in an unstable atmosphere, and that could even pose a threat for tornadoes.

There is also potential for damaging winds and isolated flash flooding as this storm system moves through our area.

And severe weather preparedness – there’s an app for that! Herrington urges the public to download the Floyd EMA mobile app, which is available free of charge through Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
