January is National Mentoring Month, which is being celebrated locally by Communities in Schools of Rome and Floyd County.
Gregory Wooten, CIS Executive Director, states that mentoring has a positive impact on students’ lives in the form of better grades, better class attendance, and better behavior.
CIS’ mentoring program is suspended at this time due to COVID-19, though Wooten states that his organization remains in search of new mentors to be on the ready when restrictions are lifted. Individuals who have a special interest in impacting a child’s life for the better are needed.
