MORE THAN 7,000 NEW CASES OF COVID-19 REPORTED ACROSS GEORGIA ON THURSDAY; CITY TO REVIEW ITS MASK MANDATE, GOVERNOR TO PROVIDE UPDATE ON RESPONSE AND VACCINES

A total of 7,105 new cases of coronavirus were reported across Georgia on Thursday by the state Department of Public Health, which additionally noted 65 more virus-related fatalities.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 609,868 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 10,100. In Floyd County, there were 7,205 confirmed cases and 110 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 55,999, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 752.
The COVID-19 Daily Status Report is updated on the website of the Georgia Department of Public Health, www.dph.georgia.gov. The site also features a vaccine dashboard. As of the most recent report that was released at 5:15 pm on Thursday, 135,605 vaccines had been administered statewide.

Rome City Commissioners have scheduled a special called meeting for today to discuss the city’s mask mandate. That meeting will be conducted on Zoom and will be streamed live via the City of Rome, GA – Government Facebook page. It will begin at 1:30 pm.

Also this afternoon, Governor Brian Kemp will give an update on COVID-19 response and vaccine distribution in Georgia. The update is set for 12:30 pm at the State Capitol in Atlanta.
