OVER 6,000 NEW CASES OF CORONAVIRUS REPORTED MONDAY IN GEORGIA; OVER 206,000 VACCINATED

A total of 6,360 new cases of coronavirus were reported across Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health, which additionally noted 17 more virus-related deaths.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 642,712 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 10,299. In Floyd County, there were 7,462 confirmed cases and 110 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 59,776, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 764.

The full COVID-19 Daily Status Report is posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website at www.dph.georgia.gov. That site also features a vaccine dashboard, along with a vaccine locator. As of Monday at 5:13 pm, a total of 206,900 vaccines had been administered statewide.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District announced on Monday night that it has closed its online registration portal for adults 65 and older (and caregivers) to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Those already registered will be contacted as soon as possible. All immunizations are by appointment. The vaccine supply in Northwest Georgia remains very limited at this time.
