SALVATION ARMY OF ROME, GA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS, PROVIDES SHELTER FROM THE COLD

The Salvation Army of Rome is in search of volunteers to help sort cans that were gathered at the Stock Our Shelves food drive held in back in December. Donors contributed around 35,000 cans that now must be sorted and shelved, states Lieutenant Paula Blevins, who also encourages the public to stay tuned for information about other volunteer opportunities in this new year.

Interested parties may call the Salvation Army of Rome at (706) 291-4745 for more details on volunteer opportunities. Financial contributions may be made online at www.salvationarmygeorgia.org/rome. Shopping (or donating to) the Salvation Army’s Family Store, located at 2501 Redmond Circle, is one other way to support the organization; the store has new hours for 2021 of Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am until 6 pm. Donations for the store may also be taken over to that organization’s 317 East First Avenue location from 9 am to 4:30 pm any Tuesday through Saturday.

The Salvation Army of Rome is also poised to provide shelter from the cold to those in need this winter. Lt. Tim Blevins asserts that the ‘White Flag’ will be raised if temperatures drop below 32 degrees.

Lt. Paula Blevins adds that donations of winter blankets are also needed from the public for those who seek shelter from the cold.

The Salvation Army of Rome serves Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga Counties.
