NEARLY 6,000 NEW CASES OF CORONAVIRUS REPORTED ACROSS GEORGIA WEDNESDAY, OVER 535,000 HAVE BEEN VACCINATED

A total of 5,772 new cases of coronavirus were reported across Georgia on Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health, which also noted 149 more virus-related fatalities. Six of the fatalities were reported here in Floyd County.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 695,400 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 11,411. In Floyd County, there were 7,970 confirmed cases and 129 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 66,384, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 830.

As of the most recent report at 6 pm on Wednesday night, 535,920 vaccines had been administered across the state.

Governor Brian Kemp and DPH Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey are set to provide an update on COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Georgia today. It will take place at 4 pm at the State Capitol in Atlanta.
