GDOL: GEORGIA’S UNEMPLOYMENT RATE DIPPED SLIGHTLY IN DECEMBER

The Georgia Department of Labor announced on Thursday that the statewide unemployment rate dipped slightly to reach 5.6 percent in December, a drop from 5.7 percent in November but an uptick from 3.1 percent in December of 2019.

The number of jobs increased by 44,700 over the month to reach the total of 4,558,900, down by 81,000 compared to the previous year.

Initial unemployment claims statewide rose by 19 percent from November to December and by about 255 percent over the year.
