HOSPITALITY HOUSE THRIFT STORE AIMS TO BOOST REVENUE AMID CHALLENGING YEAR FOR FUNDRAISING

The Hospitality House Thrift Store, located at 610 Shorter Avenue in Rome, will change their hours to 10 am until 6 pm weekdays and 10 am until 5 pm on Saturdays effective February 1st. Lynn Rousseau, the Executive Director of the Hospitality House for Women, Inc., asserts that the change is intended to accommodate late shoppers in an effort to boost revenue.

The local non-profit, whose mission is to combat domestic violence, qualified for the first round of PPP loans, but not the second round. Therefore, profits gained from the Thrift Store are even more necessary to assist with operating costs of the House, says Rousseau. And the Thrift Store has struggled in this era of coronavirus.

Rousseau states that the Thrift Store has lost thousands of dollars in revenue over the past year due to a few shutdowns and a reluctance by locals to go out and shop.

Concerned citizens may support the Thrift Store (and the Hospitality House’s mission) by shopping or donating gently used clothes and home goods to be sold at the store. Volunteers are also needed. Every effort is made to provide a safe and sanitary environment for shoppers and volunteers.
