LEPRECHAUN-A-THON TO RETURN IN MARCH 2021

Rome’s largest road race will return in 2021 with a new sponsor and a new name. The Commit 2 Fit Leprechaun-A-Thon 5K and Health Walk presented by BODYARMOR is set for Saturday, March 20th, according to a release by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation.
The 5K race and two-mile health walk will go back to an in-person event on the regular course with modifications for participants’ safety. Runners and walkers will head out in waves to allow for social distancing, says Jim Alred, RFPR’s Recreation Services Manager. The 5K waves will begin at 5 pm, and the walk waves will begin at approximately 5:50 pm. The starting point will be at First Avenue near Bridgepoint Plaza, while the pedestrian bridge near the Town Green and the Forum River Center will serve as the finish line.
Participants are urged to wear green attire. Music and BODYARMOR will be available on the Town Green after the race.
Registration is now open at www.runsignup.com and at the parks and rec offices located at 1 Shorter Avenue in Rome. The cost is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the health walk. Discounts are offered to all groups of 10 or more; group registration must be completed at the parks and recreation office by a representative of that group.
Packet pick up and late registration will be conducted the week before the event. Alred indicates that there will be no race-day registration or packet pick-up, nor will a race-day costume contest be held
Race results will be posted on Sunday, March 21st. Winners may pick up their awards the following week at the parks and rec office. The 5K is a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race.
Participation will be limited to a total of 900 runners or walkers.
