CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH; FLOYD COUNTY TEST SITE OPEN WEDNESDAY

A total of 3,209 new cases of coronavirus were reported across Georgia on Sunday by the state’s Department of Public Health, which additionally noted just five virus-related deaths.

According to the latest report by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 772,978 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 13,326. In Floyd County, there were 8,829 confirmed cases and 142 fatalities. Gwinnett County had the state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 76,106, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 944.

The full COVID-19 Daily Status Report is posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website, www.dph.georgia.gov. That website also features a vaccine dashboard and a vaccine locator. As of the latest report at 5:55 pm on Sunday evening, 1,158,884 vaccines had been administered statewide.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District has announced that the free COVID-19 testing site in Floyd County at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, located at 1400 Martin Luther King, Jr. in Rome, will be open this Wednesday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
