UGA EXTENSION AGENT KEITH MICKLER: NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO START PRUNING!

Spring may seem somewhat far away, but according to Keith Mickler, UGA Extension Agent for Floyd County, now is a prime time for lawn and garden enthusiasts to prepare for it. Tasks should include sharpening mower blades and pruning apple trees, pear trees, and hollies, asserts Mickler.

Mickler also advises gardeners to prune rose bushes and ornamental grasses right now. And reach out to his office for a $9 soil test before you plant this year!

The office is now on Facebook; Mickler encourages Rome and Floyd County residents to ‘like’ the Floyd County Extension page.

The season of Spring will officially arrive in the Earth’s northern hemisphere on Saturday, March 20th, 2021.
