CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 2,481 new cases of coronavirus and 121 more virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by this state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 780,494 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 13,599. In Floyd County, there were 8,908 confirmed cases and 146 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 76,883, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 959.

The full COVID-19 Daily Status Report is posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website, www.dph.georgia.gov. The website also features a vaccine dashboard and a vaccine locator. As of the latest report at 5:47 pm on Wednesday evening, 1,301,647 vaccines had been administered statewide.

The DPH Northwest Health District announced on Wednesday that the Floyd County Health Department had some COVID-19 vaccine available with little demand. Those who are eligible for immunization in phase 1A+ of Georgia’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan should call the department to make an appointment, (706) 295-6123.
