AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE

Georgia’s gas prices rose again over the past week. According to AAA, The Auto Club Group, motorists statewide now pay an average price of $2.33 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that is five cents more than last week, 12 cents more than last month, and six cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $34.95 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $1.95 less than what motorists paid in January 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Rome is among the least expensive metro markets in Georgia with an average of $2.29 a gallon.

AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters says, “Georgians can expect to continue paying more to fill up at the pump this month, contingent on how high crude goes. If demand grows, that will further fuel pump price increases.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.50 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is four cents more than one week ago, 14 cents more than last month, and seven cents more than at this time last year.
