CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 2,265 new cases of coronavirus and 78 more virus-related fatalities were reported on Wednesday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 796,547 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 14,254. In Floyd County, there were 9,050 confirmed cases and 154 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 78,460, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 999.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard Wednesday afternoon, 1,541,057 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,076,924 first doses and 464,133 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 28,004.
