Rome-based non-profit Brighter Birthdays will be celebrating a birthday of its own during the first week of March.
Cristin Warden, founder, states that this year’s celebration will take place via Facebook due to COVID-19 and weather concerns. The organization enters its fifth year of providing gifts to underprivileged children around Rome and Floyd County on their birthdays.
Brighter Birthdays delivers backpacks filled with party supplies, along with school supplies, toys, and toiletries, to local schools (as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs), which then distribute the backpacks to children in need. A host of volunteers have pitched in their assistance with this effort, attests Warden, who adds that socially distant groups are currently sought to pack backpacks for the 2021-22 school year.
