CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 1,331 new cases of coronavirus and 56 more virus-related fatalities were reported on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health. Two of those fatalities were in Floyd County.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 806,119 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 14,689. In Floyd County, there were 9,157 confirmed cases and 160 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 79,278, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,025.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Monday afternoon, 1,756,979 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,154,161 first doses and 602,818 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 30,556.
