CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 2,337 new cases of coronavirus and 75 more virus-related fatalities were reported across Georgia on Tuesday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 808,416 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 14,761. In Floyd County, there were 9,191 confirmed cases and 160 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 79,439, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,020.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Tuesday afternoon, 1,793,989 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,166,437 first doses and 627,552 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 30,854.
