ROME MAYOR CRAIG MCDANIEL IS HOPEFUL ABOUT 2021, URGES THE PUBLIC TO GET INVOLVED IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Rome Mayor Craig McDaniel feels hopeful about the year 2021. Among the things sparking his hope – an uptick in people coming to Georgia from other states to live and do business. McDaniel, a local real estate agent, attests that this has a lot to do with quality of life.

Housing was a major topic of discussion during a day-and-a-half retreat held by Rome City Commissioners late last week. They also considered quality of life and economic development, along with the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in the city.

McDaniel asserts that he hopes to see more community engagement in local government in the coming months.

The Rome City Commission typically meets the second and fourth Monday evening of each month. Their last several regular meetings have been virtual, though McDaniel anticipates a hybrid approach for March with some of those Commissioners in person and others via Zoom. The Rome Redevelopment Committee will meet this afternoon at 2 pm in a hybrid gathering; in-person attendees will gather in the Sam King Room, and others will meet via Zoom.
