CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 2,206 new cases of coronavirus and 107 virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Thursday by the state’s Department of Public Health. One of those fatalities was reported here in Floyd County.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 812,612 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 14,989. In Floyd County, there were 9,252 confirmed cases and 162 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 79,934, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,048.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard Thursday afternoon, 1,885,179 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,204,330 first doses and 680,849 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 31,932.
