AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE AGAIN LAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices rose again over the past week. According to AAA, The Auto Club Group, motorists statewide now pay an average price of $2.57 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That is six cents more than last week, 33 cents more than last month, and 29 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $38.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $1.65 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Rome was among the least expensive metro markets in Georgia at an average of $2.52 a gallon.

Montrae Waiters, AAA spokeswoman, says, “Because US crude production was offline due to the Gulf Coast winter storm, we can expect gas prices to be impacted. Georgians should anticipate pump prices to rise this coming week.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.72 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is nine cents more than last week, 31 cents more than last month, and 27 cents more than at this time last year.
