CORONAVIRUS, VACCINATION UPDATE FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 1,227 new cases of coronavirus and 80 virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health. One of those fatalities was here in Floyd County.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 819,730 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 15,148. In Floyd County, there were 9,328 confirmed cases and 164 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 80,546, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,056.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Monday afternoon, 2,060,352 vaccines had been administered statewide; that included 1,282,034 first doses and 778,318 second doses. The number of vaccines administered in Floyd County totaled 33,288.
