AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE SLIGHTLY IN THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices rose slightly during the past week. According to AAA, The Auto Club Group, motorists statewide are now paying an average price of $2.58 per gallon of regular unleaded; that’s one cent more than last week, 30 cents more than last month, and 37 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $38.70 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $1.80 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, asserts, “A modest increase at the pump for Georgia motorists this week. Rising crude prices contributed to the increase this week. As a result, pump prices will likely continue to increase through the end of the month.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.76 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is five cents more than last month, 30 cents more than last month, and 37 cents more than at this same time last year.

Rising crude prices, tightening gas supplies, and increased gas demand have all contributed to higher pump prices, indicates AAA.
